After learning how to make simple vehicle controls in a script we were given the challenge of fixing bugs with the scripts in a plane game. The things I had to do involved changing the direction and speed of the plane, fixing its controls so that the player could aim it up and down, getting the camera to follow the plane, and finally rotating the propeller at the front of the plane.

Learned about how to “group” objects in Unity by creating a blank game object, as well as how to create and move objects in Unity. Learned how to do some scripting, mainly just how to search for certain scripts using the Unity website.

So I’m learning how to create a really basic game, starting out with a ball and a plane, and now adding player controls to the ball. I apparently suck at scripting so that’s a thing. This is what I’ve been learning to do so far:

Micro-Game Project- Karting
Basically all I did was edit the values of the karts acceleration and max speeds, as well as the overall color. The rest was just following the tutorial using the games assets.
Micro game project- Platformer
Just went through the tutorial then edited a few things with the player character. The color, speed, and death audio were all edited to show that I understand how to do that much at least.

What tabletop game inspired an entire genre of video games in the early 70s?
I’m guessing D&D/Chainmail
Start of Video Games
The first video game was either Space War or Pong, with Pong being the first more modern game.
There have been probably like 5 bajillion games since then. Steam gets 175 new games per month on average.
Game Definition
A form of play involving a set of rules.

“Not only do we tend to think about the world according to what we want to see and what we need to see, we tend to think in terms of what we expect to see.”
Generally people have expectations and ideas about how things work. Obviously. However going into a new field of work or a new class, taking with you expectations of what the class will be like through similar classes or past experience with the subject can lead to majorly false expectations. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it can be jarring to suddenly see that your expectations were completely wrong, and this can lead to a terrible experience if not dealt with properly. Basically, don’t let your uneducated expectations control you so much as to ruin your first experiences with a topic. Go with the flow and learn. Idk im tired.
