Skills practice: Give Thanks

As preparation for Skills me and my partner Meghan (https://meghanjohnsblog.wordpress.com/category/animation-ii/) made a animation with the prompt “Give Thanks” in 5 days of class, and this is the result.

I mainly worked on creating the basic layout of the map, which was later edited and expanded by Meghan, and building the characters and car, including the cars textures and rig. I also built the end scene with the world exploding with Meghan working with me to get the lighting right. The actual animating, world textures, superhero, most character textures, and the lighting of the environment was done by Meghan.

Watchog Model 11/15/19

So we were tasked with creating a model for a pokemon, I got started a bit later in the class period but this is what I’ve gotten so far for Watchog, basically I’d just need to fix up the arms, add ears, fix the head shape, then I can start working on the face as a separate piece. I probably would have been done, or at least nearly done, if I had started with a cylinder instead of a cube but whatever we all make mistakes

Scary Animation 11/01/19

I’ve finished most of the walls and cabinets, and have been working on getting the world to be able to be smoothed. I have also worked on creating the cabinet doors and the furnace door, and will soon be starting on creating the cage and hanging items from the roof, as well as adding in a window. I still am undecided on how I will add in a house, whether it will be something I import from someone elses work or if it will be something simple I create myself, that just depends on how much time is left once I finish with the main room.

Scary Animation 10/24/19

A few days ago me and a partner, Meghan Johns (https://meghanjohnsblog.wordpress.com/) started an animation project where we make a spooky animation. We chose to place the animation in the basement of a butcher with our main character in a cage, with most of the animation coming from his perspective. My partner is currently working on the butcher character while I am working on building the basement, and later will either begin building the shell of the house or will use a free house model found online.

The basement is mainly meant to be an old butcher kitchen thing, so there will be metal rusty counters and a furnace, which will be the main source of light for the scene and should serve to add a spooky atmosphere to the world. Because of this I am trying to build the map and then break it, which can be seen in how I partially broke a handle on one of the drawers, though texturing is going to be the most important part of giving the basement a decrepit look. I built all of the cabinets and drawers with the intention of rigging them to be functional but because they likely won’t be used I will be deleting the faces that wont be seen by the camera when I have mostly finished.
